The Diverse Nature of Urban Wear

Every season there is something that comes up that has a massive effect in the fashion industry. This year it is all about relating fashion to the city. There are many designs now of shoes, jackets, and tee shirts that are correlated to the streets or the city, in general. It’s actually amazing how much of the street culture is incorporated into the clothing.

Hundreds of street brands have arisen, trying to grab the next batch of people’s attention. The products that these brands sell are not mass produced, meaning it is the people who decide which is hot and which is not. To name a few brands Hellz Bellz, Cheap Monday, and We Are the Superlative Conspiracy (WESC) are some of the leading eye catchers.

The products sold in these stored are priced between the low-end clothing and the high-end designer clothing. This makes the items all the more appealing to young teens and the suburbanite crowds. The great designs and prints of the store plus the great dealing prices is a perfect combination to get any brand to start selling their goods.

Urban wear clothing does not have a specific set of clothes because this style has been around for a really long time and has progressed just like any other trend does. It began from surfing days, and then moved along to the skating era before reaching the hip hop community.

Because of the diverse origins of the urban wear clothing, it becomes a hit to different cliques and masses which makes it easier for people to communicate with one another. Abercrombie & Fitch and Urban Outfitters are some of the leading brands that sell these stylish designed goods. They have been praised by many people for having such an outstanding collection.

While styles will continue to change, as long as human civilization exists, hopefully fashion will keep up with the time.  Nowadays, it’s getting harder for older people to keep up with the style because it’s becoming too hip. But that shouldn’t be a discouragement to people who want to have a little fun with themselves. Buy urban tshirts and think of way that you can benefit from today’s fashion.

Urban Outfitters Shop Dropping – Mass Produced Individualism

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Urban Outfitters tends to re-use lame concepts and have questionable ethics regarding the origin of the concepts for their products (urbncounterfeiters.blogspot.com They capitalize on trends started by enterprising artists and designers by making knock off’s of their material and as a large corporation are able to source it to china and undercut the original designers price and market to people who don’t care. They sell “Mass Produced Individualism” to all of their clients and that’s an oxymoron. To small apparel designers they are what Wal-mart is to the mom and pop deli that used to be in your town. We created some shirts that made a commentary on Urban Outfitters customers. Avoid urban if you can and support independently owned stores and local or upcoming designers. The New Face of Urban Clothing

The New Face of Urban Clothing

Lately, a set of new urban clothing designers has emerged. These new designers create edgy “urban” clothing, but not necessarily hip-hop clothing which is often connected with the word “urban”. The word urban technically means “relating to the city” and these designers create city and street-style urban clothing, shoes and accessories for metropolitan hipsters. Hundreds of these new street brands have cropped up in recent years, striving to create something different than the mass-produced products available in American malls.

Some of these brands include WESC (We Are the Superlative Conspiracy), Obey, tokidoki, Orisue, Hellz Bellz and Cheap Monday, to name a few. Because they aren’t mass-produced, these designer goods are priced between the low-end clothing store prices and high-end designer prices, making them an affordable luxury for the college-age young urban or suburbanite crowd they are marketed to.

There is even a new genre of clothing store to sell these new designer brands to young men and women. One such online clothing store, Karmaloop, was founded in 1999. Their mission statement was “to battle the evil forces of McFashion in a world populated by Abercrombie Zombies.” Karmaloop has become a very successful company, and has helped to put many of these up-and-coming new urban clothing designers on the map. A competitor to Karmaloop, 80′s Purple, was founded in 2004 and has now gained prominence. Of course one of the pioneers selling urban hipster clothing was Urban Outfitters which has been around as a company since the early 1970′s.

While styles continue to change, urban and suburban hipsters are both abandoning the older, more established designer brands often found in upscale department stores and flocking to these young, edgy and more trendy up-and-coming designer brands that can most easily be found online.
